Regulated by CQC

Dougie Mac is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) who regulates and inspects health and social care services in England. The commission ensures the safety and quality of care settings rating the services in 5 different areas; Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-Led and an overall rating.

The CQC undertook an unannounced inspection of the Adult Hospice Site in December 2025 where we were proud to achieve outstanding in all 5 assessment areas. The CQC, undertook an unannounced inspection of the Children and Young Adult Hospice Site in October 2019 and assessed the services as being fully compliant.

Investor in Excellence Journey

Since becoming the first hospice in the UK to be recognised as an Investor in Excellence in 2022, we have continued working with Investors in Excellence, a best practice framework which focusses on Leading, Resourcing, Delivering and Achieving. The emphasis is very much on continuous improvement using the plan, do, check, act premise. This has supported our excellence ambitions within our vision, mission and values. Our current accreditation from IiE categorises our performance as a ‘High Performing’ organisation – the second highest category.
