Daring Dougie Mac Team takes the plunge in a skydive

A group of 17 daring Dougie Mac staff and volunteers are taking on a sky-high fundraising challenge on 16^th May when they complete a tandem skydive. The group of dedicated colleagues, who work within different areas of Dougie Mac, will conquer their fears when they jump from a plane at 10,000 feet.

“Team Dougie Mac” will join 23 brave supporters who are also raising money for their local hospice and together they have already raised more than £26,000 for Dougie Mac. The skydive will take place at Tilstock Airfield, Whitchurch on 16^th May (weather permitting).

Gemma Scarratt, Retail Property Manager at Dougie Mac, said, “I’m absolutely terrified of flying so I decided to take on this challenge to help conquer my fears. I know that I’ll be completely petrified on the day, and I’m sure there will be some tears, but I’m determined to do it to raise money for Dougie Mac.

“I’ve worked here for more than 8 years and I’m really proud to work for an organisation that makes such a difference to local families. Dougie Mac relies heavily on the support of the local community and we regularly hear of the fantastic lengths people go to to raise money, so I’m proud that I can take part in this challenge to support the hospice myself.”

Deborah Vickers, Head of Business and Community Fundraising, added, “Our skydivers are all super brave. Some are more scared than others, but it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and I know from personal experience that they’ll have an amazing time.

“Many of our skydivers are raising money in memory of someone who has been cared for by Dougie Mac so it’s a very personal and significant challenge for them. It’s also inspiring to see so many colleagues taking part and it shows just how much they care about the work we do. We’re so grateful to every one of our skydivers and I’d like to say a big thank you and wish them all lots of luck.”
