Join Our Team

Our volunteers are absolutely vital to the work of Dougie Mac Hospice; without them we simply couldn’t continue to provide or fund our essential services.

The enthusiasm and commitment from our volunteers helps us to help others in our community.

Volunteering at Dougie Mac

Dougie Mac has over 700 dedicated volunteers that give their time in every department across the hospice including retail, finance, fundraising, gardening, catering and care services.

From making delicious cups of tea and counting money to offering a listening ear and sorting charity shop donations; we couldn’t do what we do without them.

It doesn’t matter how much time you have to give, we’ll give you the time to do something great!

Why Volunteer With Us?

There are so many reasons to get involved and support your local hospice…

Join our Volunteers Week Celebrations

We celebrate Volunteers Week during the first week of June each year and champion the commitment and dedication of our volunteers.

Socialise with Others

Volunteering at the hospice allows you to meet and get to know other like-minded volunteers. Many of our volunteers go on to make great friends.

Give Back to Your Community

After the care provided to a loved one, many people feel compelled to volunteer in thanks for the support the hospice provided for their family during their time of need.

“Volunteering at Dougie Mac could be one of the best things you ever do. For me, it has been one of the most fulfilling and rewarding things that I have ever done. The team at the shop are so supportive and it’s a lovely atmosphere. I’d be lost without it.”

Queens Award for Voluntary Service

Each year, outstanding examples of voluntary service are celebrated through the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. Created in 2002 for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, QAVS awards have been shining a light on the fantastic work of voluntary groups for many years. We were delighted to receive our award in 2010.

Disability Confident

Dougie Mac is committed to becoming more disability confident, to ensure that disabled people and those with lifelong heath conditions have the opportunities to fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations.
