Meet Leanne

“I’ve worked at Dougie Mac for the last 11 years and I care for patients who come into the hospice for end-of-life care or help with managing their symptoms. Being a palliative nurse is about supporting patients and their families at the most difficult time in their lives, and I take great pride in being able to do that.

“The role is very rewarding, although some days are harder than others. There are moments that really stay with you – times when emotions run high and you’re supporting people through incredibly difficult circumstances. Sometimes I drive home thinking, ‘wow, that was a really tough day,’ and I need a moment to process it all. But alongside that, there’s a deep sense of privilege and I feel grateful that I’ve been able to make a difference to lots of families before returning to my own.

“Without your support, we wouldn’t be able to offer specialist care for our patients and their families.”
