Celebrating the support of our business community
Kindly sponsored by Currie Young
Dougie Mac is delighted to celebrate the incredible support we receive from local businesses across Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire.
Dougie Mac is extremely grateful for the support received from the local business community, which provides an integral and much–cherished pillar of income for the hospice. It is thanks to this support that the excellent care for which Dougie Mac is renowned, can continue for adults, young adults and children.
Awarded to an outstanding individual who has made an exceptional contribution to Dougie Mac – the award recognises their hard work and commitment in making events, collections and donations happen, championing fellow employees to fundraise for the hospice. The judges are looking for an individual who is passionate about raising funds and the profile of Dougie Mac; from organising raffles and cake sales to encouraging colleagues to volunteer their time and raise awareness about their local hospice, this individual inspires and motivates their colleagues across their workplace to fundraise.

We are proud to present our Sustainability Award for a second year. As a hospice, we are committed to minimising the environmental impact of our work, recognising that building a sustainable, ESG focussed organisation is the foundation of a Centre of Excellence.
We work alongside so many like minded businesses, and never so much as when we run our annual TreeCycle campaign. Our winner this year supported the campaign with staff, equipment, advice, volunteers and also disposes of the chippings for us. We are so grateful to all the nominees and businesses who support, but we have one clear winner - N&J Tree Services Ltd.
A 2-metre real Christmas tree has a carbon footprint of 16kg CO2 equivalent. However, by having the tree chipped this can be reduced by up to 80%, all whilst raising valuable funds for Dougie Mac.
2024/2025 Award Winner: Mitch Brown - Brown Recycling Ltd
Within any business there is often one person who goes above and beyond - not only by raising money for the hospice, but championing what we do and being the driving force behind their company’s fundraising efforts. This year's winner has been instrumental in our TreeCycle campaign, year after year, and is also the main sponsor of the campaign. He has taken on personal challenges including canoeing across the Great Glen Way, and trekking the Arctic.
This year, an idea that he had been thinking about for while finally came to fruition in the form of the Skip Art Challenge - a celebration of artistic expression, environmental sustainability and community spirit. It gave ten talented artists the opportunity to transform ordinary skips into extraordinary works of art, whilst also making a positive difference to our community. All the proceeds were donated to Dougie Mac.
