Morrisons Building a Legacy Together Grant in partnership with Together For Short Lives funds new kitchen for Dougie Mac Hospice

Dougie Mac Hospice is pleased to unveil a new kitchen at its children’s services, which has been funded by the Morrisons Building a Legacy Together Grant. The grant is funded through Morrisons partnership with Together for Short Lives. The modern new kitchen means that the hospice will be more efficient when providing families with meals during their visits to the hospice.

Morrisons and Together for Short Lives partnership started in February 2022 and is raising vital funds for children’s hospices across the country and helping families make precious memories together. Together, they launched the Building a Legacy Together Grant last summer. The grant aims to help children’s hospices across the country pay for things like renovations, new outdoor spaces and therapy equipment to ensure families caring for a life-limited child can be supported in a comforting, joyful environment.

Dougie Mac used grant money to fund the renovation of the kitchen within its children’s services. The modern new kitchen includes new ovens, grill, extraction system, cupboards, splashbacks and lighting. The refurbishment will provide more preparation space and improve efficiency.

Together for Short Lives Director of Fundraising, Nick Carroll says:

“We are proud to see the fruits of our partnership with Morrisons come to life in such a meaningful way. The new kitchen at Dougie Mac Children’s Services was made possible by the Building a Legacy Grant, with thanks to Morrisons partnership fundraising. The grant, which was launched last summer, has already had a huge impact on a number of hospices across the country just like Dougie Mac. We know that a new kitchen will make a huge difference for the families supported by Dougie Mac.”

Morrisons Corporate Affairs Director, David Scott says:

“As part of Morrisons’ commitment to giving back to our communities, we are proud to be funding the new kitchen at Dougie Mac Children’s Services through our partnership with Together for Short Lives. This is what the Building a Legacy Together Grant is all about, funding renovations and building projects. We are confident that the new kitchen will make a difference to the families Dougie Mac support.”

Dougie Mac Hospice’s Director of HR & Support Services, Cris Hammond, added:

“We’re so grateful for this generous grant which has enabled us to completely refurbish the kitchen within our children’s services. This project will directly impact the wellbeing of our children and families. When families come to the hospice, be it for a day or a longer respite stay, the provision of a home-cooked nutritious meal (with no dishes to clean after!) is one of our most-valued services. It’s a break from the day-to-day duties and gives them a chance to be together as a family, enjoying fun times and making precious memories.”

Morrisons hopes to raise £10 million for the partnership by October 2024. To find out more about the Building a Legacy Together Grant please follow the link:
