Michelin chefs serve up £60,000 for Dougie Mac

Michelin has teamed up with a top local restauarant and five acclaimed chefs to host a gourmet fundraiser for Dougie Mac.

135 guests enjoyed the culinary extravanganza at the stunning Lunar restauarant, at World of Wedgwood in Barlaston, run by two-starred Michelin chef Niall Keating.

Niall was joined by Simon Rogan, Lisa Goodwin Allen, Tom Barnes and Tom Sellers to dish up a four-course gourmet dinner which raised more than £60,000 for the hospice.

The event was organised by Mike Lawton, Head of Communications and Marketing at Michelin Lifestyle, and 15 Michelin employees volunteered as waiting staff on the night.

Mike said: “This was an incredibly successful event, which drew on the skills of five Michelin chefs to support Dougie Mac and offer a dining experience like no other.

“We would like to thank the chefs and all who supported it.

“Dougie Mac is an important charity to the team in Stoke-on-Trent and over the years our staff have elected to support it through our volunteering programme, to collectively make a difference with their time and resources.

“We look forward to continuing to support the Dougie Mac, and other good causes across North Staffordshire.”

Michelin in Stoke-on-Trent has a long-standing tradition of supporting Dougie Mac and this is the third year the dining experience has taken place.

Donna Adams, Head of Fundraising at Dougie Mac, added, “Dougie Mac recently celebrated its 50th Birthday and this event was a really fitting way to mark such a huge milestone.

“Over the last 50 years we’ve become a lifeline to local people facing a life-limiting illness, offering excellent care and support when they need it most.

“However, we simply couldn’t have reached this milestone without the continued support and generosity of our local community, including businesses like Michelin.

“We’re so grateful to everyone who helped to make the night such a huge success, especially the Michelin team and of course the wonderful chefs who gave our guests such a fabulous experience. It was a really special evening which raised a huge amount of money for Dougie Mac.”
