Pedal power raises £90,000 for Dougie Mac

Super supporters TIP Group has raised more than £90,000 for Dougie Mac by completing another gruelling cycling challenge.

A team of nearly 50 TIP customers, suppliers and staff, of all ages, experiences and abilities, completed the 300km “Game of Thrones” route along the Dalmatian Coast from Split down to the “seat of thrones”, Dubrovnik. Cycling more than 100 kms each day, the tough route included more than 10,000 feet of hill climbs, but the team battled through the hot conditions to complete the challenge in just three days.

Deborah Vickers, Head of Business and Community Fundraising at Dougie Mac, said, “The team from TIP has once again amazed us with their fantastic fundraising efforts and we’re so grateful to every member of the team, and to everyone who supported them throughout the challenge. The money raised will make a real difference to the families we care for, across our local community, and on their behalf I’d like to say a massive thank you.”

This is the ninth cycling challenge the team has completed and their hard work and endurance has seen them raise an eye-watering £500,000 for local good causes, including Dougie Mac, over the last ten years. They have even nicknamed themselves the “Fat Bottomed Boys & Girls” due to the amount of time they’ve spent in the saddle.

Janice Furnival, TIP, said, “We’d just like to say a huge thank you to our families, colleagues, customers, suppliers and other industry partners who have supported our fundraising effort by way of a donation and helped us to achieve our target.”

If you feel inspired by the team from TIP, why not take to the saddle yourself and sign up for Dougie Mac’s Bike Ride on Sunday 17th September? Visit www.dougiemac.org.uk/events/ for more information.
