Dougie Mac provides care and support to over 3,000 patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses each year in Stoke-on-Trent, North Staffordshire and the surrounding villages, also offering supportive care to their families and carers. We help adults living with cancer and non-cancer life-limiting illnesses such as advanced heart failure, Dementia, motor neurone disease and incurable lung diseases.

Our dedicated staff and volunteers make a huge difference to a patient’s journey; they are central to the care we provide and all we do. We strive to go that extra mile to provide a warm, friendly and peaceful environment both at the hospice or in a family’s home.

Will I have to pay to stay at the hospice?

No, thanks to the generosity of our donors and supporters, all children, young adults and adults can stay at the hospice free of charge.

In fact, all hospice services in the hospice and in the community are free of charge to anyone who needs them.

How are families referred to adult services?

Referrals are accepted from any health care professional, including GPs, hospital doctors, community nurses and specialist nurses. When the GP is not the source of the referral, the patient’s GP will be informed that a referral has been made.

Do you only offer care in the hospice?

No, while a lot of our care is given within the hospice, we also work out in the community and often spend time in a family’s own home. This means we’re able to provide flexible care and support to meet their particular needs.

Do you only look after adults with a cancer diagnosis?

No, we offer care and support to adults with a variety of life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. This includes advanced heart failure, Dementia, motor neurone disease and incurable lung diseases.
